Types of energy :)

Ok so we’re moving on from fashion movements to energy. I’ll make it as interesting as I can 🙂 so stick with me.

Wind power is converted through wind turbines. This creates clean energy using the wind.

  • The pros of this type of enery is that it is more economically friendly
  • The cons are that they can sometimes been seen as a bit of and eye-sore. This is why most wind farms are out at sea. They are also costly to install and when there’s no wind there’s no energy!

I think they look rather pretty myself, not sure about you but I like them.

Tidal energy is taken from the coming in and out of the tide.

PRO: Tidal Energy is thus a clean source of energy and doesn’t require much land or  other resources as in harnessing energy from other sources.

CON: However, the energy  generated is not much as high and low tides occur only twice a day and  continuous energy production is not possible.

Solar energy is taken from the sun through solar panels which convert the uv rays into enery that can be used.

Advantage: Solar energy creates absolutely no pollution. This is perhaps the most important advantage that makes solar energy so much more practical than oil. Oil burning releases harmful greenhouses gases, carcinogens and carbon dioxide into our precious air.

Disadvantage: Solar power cannot be harnessed during a storm, on a cloudy day or at night. This limits how much power can be saved for future days. Some days you may still need to rely on oil to power your home.

Fossil Fuels

Fossil fuels, as its name suggests, were formed from the organic remains of prehistoric plants and animals. They are responsible for much of the worlds electric power and total energy demands.

Crude oil is also referred to as petroleum. Compared to coal, this is easier to extract from the ground through the use of pipes thereby making it less costly to transport from one place to another.

Natural gas has other uses apart from being burned in power plants to generate electricity. Many people also use it in their home heating systems to provide warm air during the cold winter season.

  • A major advantage of fossil fuels is their capacity to generate huge amounts of electricity in just a single location. Fossil fuels are also very easy to find.
  • Pollution is a major disadvantage of fossil fuels. This is because they give off carbon dioxide when burned thereby causing a greenhouse effect.

That’s all for now 🙂 I’ve got something awesome coming up next!
