Power Dressing

Power Dressing: A stylish and expensive clothing style, intended to convey the impression of assertiveness and competence and predominantly worn by women..

Power Dressing was mainly used in the late 70’s and through the 1980’s. The style was influenced by women in the news at the time. Margaret Thatcher and Princess Diana were the main women in Britain at the time.

Men also used power dressing but mostly this just involved wearing a really expensive suit. Not like women who used it to express assertive dominance that they had been steadily gaining  throughout the 20th century.

Power dressing is my reccent favourite as I have a bit of a thing for jackets at the moment. especially with a skirt! i’ll post some of my outfits soon.
